Career employees receive competitive pay and full benefits. Non-career employees receive limited benefits until they move into career positions.

Compensation

In addition to strong starting pay and scheduled raises, most employees may also receive:

Paid Time Off (Leave)

  • Annual Leave (Vacation):
  • 13 days per year for the first 3 years
  • 20 days per year after 3 years
  • 26 days per year after 15 years
  • Sick Leave: Full-time employees earn 4 hours per pay period. Part-time employees earn prorated leave based on hours worked.
  • Holidays

    Employees receive 10 paid holidays each year.

    Health Insurance

    Career employees are eligible for the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, with several plan options. The Postal Service covers most of the cost, and employee contributions are tax-free.

    Dental & Vision Insurance

    Access to the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program is available at group rates with tax-free contributions.

    Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

    After one year of service, career employees may enroll in FSAs to cover health and dependent care expenses using tax-free dollars.

    Long-Term Care Insurance

    Employees may choose coverage through the Federal Long-Term Care Insurance Program to help with costs related to nursing homes, assisted living, or home care.

    Retirement Benefits

    • Pension Plan: Participation in the federal retirement system, with defined pension and disability coverage.
    • Thrift Savings Plan (TSP): A retirement savings plan similar to a 401(k), with up to 5% Postal Service matching.
    • Social Security & Medicare: New hires are covered under both programs.

    Life Insurance
